Warping – How to Prevent Print Deformation

Warping – How to Prevent Print Deformation image

Model separates and warps? Try these proven methods.

Warping occurs during uneven cooling – material shrinks:

🔥 Materials prone to warping: • ABS/ASA: Very strong • Nylon: Strong • PETG: Moderate • PLA: Minimal

✅ Solutions: • Heated bed: 60–110 °C depending on material • Enclosure/closed chamber: Preserves heat in print area • Proper bed surface: PEI, Garolite, Kapton • Adhesive: Glue stick, hairspray, Magigoo • Brim: Add 5–10 mm edge around model • Model orientation: Minimize large areas on bed

⚙️ Slicer settings: • Enable Brim (5–10 mm, 2–4 layers) • Reduce cooling rate (fan speed) • Fan speed: 0% for first 3 layers • Draft shield: Creates protective wall around print

🏗 For ABS/ASA: • Print in enclosed chamber • Chamber temperature: 40–50 °C • No drafts!
