The first layer is the foundation of success
Properly configuring the first layer is key to successful printing.
The first layer is the most important part of a print. Keep the build plate clean and level. Use baby-stepping to fine-tune the nozzle distance.
Slightly squish the first layer — not too high (won't stick) and not too low (blocks filament flow).
✅ Tips: • Wipe the build plate with IPA before each print • Set the bed 5–10 °C higher for the first layer • Reduce the first layer speed to 50–70% of normal • For PLA use 60 °C, for PETG 80–85 °C • First layer height: 0.2–0.3 mm
