Input Shaping – Printing Without Resonance

Input Shaping – Printing Without Resonance image

Eliminate ghosting and ringing artifacts using resonance compensation.

Ghosting (ringing) is surface rippling caused by printer frame vibrations.

🔬 How Input Shaping works: • Accelerometer (ADXL345) measures printer resonances • Klipper calculates correction of input signal • Movements are adjusted to compensate for vibrations

📐 Calibration procedure: 1. Attach ADXL345 to hotend or bed 2. Run SHAPER_CALIBRATE in Klipper 3. Klipper measures resonances on X and Y axes 4. Recommends suitable algorithm (MZV, EI, 2HEI) 5. Save results to printer.cfg

🏆 Results: • Complete elimination of ghosting • Ability to print 200–400 mm/s without visual degradation • Each printer has different frequencies – calibration is individual

💡 Alternative without accelerometer: • Manually print a ringing tower • Measure where ghosting is minimal
